Adult Education and Literacy Program
ESOL, GED, Pre-GED, and ABE


This program was launched in 2007 to provide ESOL, GED, and Pre-GED classes to adults in the communities we serve. We offer Pre-GED, GED, ABE, and beginning ESOL classes from our Bushwick site. Classes are free and are open to anyone living in New York City. Proof of citizenship is not required.

Classes have two cycles: Fall (September - January) and Spring (February - June). Anyone interested in these classes is encouraged to sign up now; space is limited.

Learn in the Evening Program (LITE)

Is a low-cost evening program that offers GED preparation to the general public, 18+. Availability: Tuesday & Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., three eight-week training cycles annually. The population consists of older teen and adult high school dropouts and newly arrived immigrants who wish to improve their earning power through literacy and technical training.

Bushwick Workforce Resource Center

The mission of the Bushwick Workforce Resource Center is to facilitate greater access to education, job training, and employment services for the people of Bushwick, and to develop community partnerships that can provide additional support to local residents. The BWRC serves as an extension to our Thornton Street site.

The BWRC serves over 1,500 local residents per year.

Partnerships: HealthPlus; Jewish Community Council of Coney Island; Catholic Migration Office; The Maura Clarke – Ita Ford Center, and others.

The Certified Electronic Health Records Training classes can help you receive the skills needed to enter the exciting healthcare field. This training is open to the ages of 19 years and older. You can look forward to receiving training such as Medical Billing & Coding, Advanced Electronic Health Records, Working with EHR Systems, and much more.
