The mission of the Brooklyn Workforce Resource Center is to facilitate greater access to education, job training, and employment services for the people of Bushwick, and to develop community partnerships that can provide additional support to local residents. The BWRC will serve as an extension or our Thornton Street site.

Visitors to the BWRC will receive assessments by a vocational counselor to determine vocational and educational needs; develop customized vocational and educational plans; access the services of an on-site job developer who is highly-experienced in securing employment; enroll in education and job training programs through OBT or other community partners; enroll in GED and literacy classes on-site; obtain referrals to local organizations which offer services that OBT does not provide, including access to low-cost health insurance, substance-abuse counseling, housing assistance, financial counseling and food distribution.

Annually, the BWRC anticipates serving a minimum of 1,500 local residents.

Partnerships: HealthPlus (affordable health insurance access); Jewish Community Council of Coney Island (GED classes); Catholic Migration Office (immigrant and legal services); The Maura Clarke – Ita Ford Center (ESOL), and others.
